China extends visa exemption to 2025
On 6th May, “China has decided to extend visa exemption entry for citizens from 12 countries on short-term visits to China until the end of 2025”, Chinese President Xi Jinping said. This exemption was supposed to end at the end of November 2024, as shared in our previous article.
“To promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals, China has decided to extend the visa-free policy to 31st Dec 2025, for citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Citizens of these countries with ordinary passports will be allowed to enter and stay in China visa-free for up to 15 days for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transit.” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday.
Visa-free countries:

- Luxembourg
Applicable Personnel: Ordinary passport holders
Valid period: 1 December 2023 to 31 December 2025
Purpose: Business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, and transit purposes
Visa-free period: No more than 15 days
